Curt Schilling says he'll run for president, because of course

Curt Schilling posts a great number of things on social media, a practice that hasn’t exactly worked out for him in the past. Only time will tell if this next one does.

Schilling, the ex-MLB ace turned ex-ESPN commentator turned meme collector, says he’s planning a career in politics. In a thread on his Facebook page Sunday night, Schilling said he plans to run for state office then, in eight years, the White House. He quickly threw an asterisk on that and said he’d run in four years if “by some illegal event” Hillary Clinton won this year’s election. (Schilling is always on brand).

In case you’re wondering which state he’s talking about, Schilling lives in Massachusetts currently, where enough Red Sox fans might just elect him to a state seat if he were to run. The same probably isn’t true in, say, Rhode Island.

Two more things to keep in mind about Schilling’s political plan: He said this on Facebook, where most everybody is frontin’ about something. Schilling also responded to someone hyping him up as a great candidate, so of course he’s going to run with that praise.

To put it in sports terms, this could be like a kid asking a baseball player: “Will you hit a home run for me today?” And the slugger says, “Sure, kid. How about I hit THREE home runs for you?”

Nonetheless, if he’s serious, Kanye West vs. Curt Schilling for the White House is going to be one bonkers campaign.
